As suggested by Martin, an easy recapitulation steps to Managing your SIM:
1 – Unlock SIM if you are using a SIM lock and it is not already unlocked.
2 – Allow iPhone to finish “Searching” for carrier — at this point it doesn’t matter whether Airplane mode is on or off.
3 – “Read from SIM” will import the contacts from your SIM card into the SIManager Local List (unchanged imported contacts have a neutral color in list). Note: if you get a database error, restart the app.
4 – Replace, Delete, Import, or Modify contacts by pressing the contact you want to act on (turning it yellow) bringing up the “Edit Local Contact” menu (changed contacts will be in green, deleted contacts will be in red).
5 – “+” will add contacts bring up the “Add Local Contact” menu (new contacts will be in green).
6 – The function wheel will bring up the “List Function Menu” for Clearing, Deleting All, Resorting, Backing up and Restoring the Local List, Importing the iPhone Addressbook, and for starting and stopping the Debug Log.
7 – “Write to SIM” after all changes are made to the Local List will save it back to the SIM.
IMPORTANT : at end of modification you MUST WRITE the SIM to permanent save the contacts; all contacts in the local list become gray, then you can close the app

For the people that got error ‘Database is corrupted’ , please check in is there a folder /var/mobile/Documents. If isnt there create it and kill – restart SImanager (for strange reason on some JB iPhone this directory was not automatically created)

seem that there are issue with some type of SIM, so i have add a log trace during the read function.
If you have issue proceed with these step:
tool / start log creation
perform the usual Read SIM function and at end tool / Send log
A send email form will be show, with log already attacched
Please, keep in mind that the log is a trace of connection from the software with your SIM, so maybe that it contain some personal information (number and contacts)! If uou not agree to send this information, for debug only ofcourse, NOT send any email

to start, i remember you that SIManager work on a ‘local copy’ of SIM data and all modification are made on this local database; to bring the change into SIM (add, change or deletion) you MUST use Write To SIM function. Another important note: the first time you use SIManager, or you exchange the SIM of iPhone, you MUST use the Read From SIM function because only using it SIManager can know how many contact can store your SIM. If you dont do it will receive the error message SIM is full! trying to add any contact!
To empty the sim:
- Read from SIM
- Tool / Empty SIM (all row become red)
- Write to SIM
New with 1.9
Search bar to search name or number
Sort the local list to name or position into SIM (the default)
The navigation bar now display SIMan (xx/yy) where xx are the number of contacts used and yy the total number of contact that your SIM can store
So now with tool menu you can
with Add (+) you can choice to pickup a contact from iPhone or enter it manually
selecting an entry from the list
Where replace change the selected entry with a contact picked from iPhone where with modify you can edit directly the entry.
All SIM that i have directly tested work fine, you you have issue with some SIM model (i have read that italian 3 sim ha not work) the only chance to solve the issue is to find a user with the problem and a good knowledge of iphone that can test for me some command with SSH (or send me a SIM)

hello, all modification (change, deletion and new contact) are made on a ‘local image’ of the sim… for example for deleted contact you see only the red background but contact is still there. When you do a write to SIM, all the modification are phisically written on the SIM (and you dont see the deleted contact)

Sorry i have a problem: the number Of My contacts is about 500 , i use the simmanager to copy fr contacts to sim and it was completely done as 250 , cause no. Of copy In My sim is just 250/250 . Then I empty the sim to continue copying fr My contacts. The problem is all the contacts were copied to the empty sim same as the ones i’ve already had at first… How could i copy the contacts which are next to the past …. For ex: first time: copy fr conts to empty sim -> number conts fr 1 to 250.
Second: using nother empty sim to copy fr iphone to sim . No Of sim : 0/250
problem: the copied contacts fr iphone to sim is same 1-250 not 250 – 500.

hi, you can import contacts one at time touching the contact and selecting import; otherwise for a massime import there is the native function in the iphone os; sorry but with command disponible to ‘speak’ with sim isnt possible to recover the photo

hi, all contacts are gray when read from sim; when you delete one it became red (remember, till you write the sim the modify is only on the local image of the sim) and green are the new added contacts

i’m out for work all the week and now i havent time to add a function to manage this kind of sim; you can manage manually for now: you read the sim with 1st 250 contacts, go with ifile into /var/mobile/documents and copy the SIManager.sqlitedb to SIManager1.sqldb (copy not rename); then switch the sim to other 250 and (if the iphone hardware can) read the second bank of contacts and copy into SIManager2.sqlitedb
When you want to switch on the 1st bank, switch the sim (i dont know how it work) and copy SIManager1.sqlitedb intoo SIManager.sqlitedb

Great app. Incredible that apple don’t include it with the os. Any chance of a “ring contact” button? It seems that there’s currently no way to use numbers other than to import them into the contacts database.

Although I was wondering – when I select ADD then I am shown the contact list. Is there a way that I can do a multiple select from my iphone contact list? Maybe like being able to select with a checkmark or something instead of doing one-by-one? I know there is a select ALL from iphone-to-sim but what if I want to select multiple entries? Hi, this tool is not working with iPhone4 and iOS4.0.1 – while it starts though and the menu is ok, “read from SIM” brings up an “initializing… if SIM capicity….will be disabled” popup window, and the spinning wheel continues endlessly.
This also means I can not get hold of any log file, as the app can only be terminated – i gave up after 30 mins waiting.
The MicroSIM is from Vodafone, issued June 2010.
Any idea?

first of all thanks for ur graet job. second I have problem which is : I installed the app but as long as logo comes up it came back to main screens and shows icons. after while again one day I installed it and I saw it worked perfect. my mean I went inside app, then it didnt recignize sim and I did first read sim ,empty sim , write sim and every thing was good. some days ago I connected iphone to itune to record some songs and it sync apps too , from that day i couldnt go inside app again even 3 times I removed and reinstalled it but app doesnt work. when today i was reading comments, I supposed maybe there is still file in some where but I couldnt find anything about simanager in different directories. however I supposed maybe this info good to see.

very strange, SIManager isnt sync by itunes… havent you a file /var/mobile/documents/SIManager.sqlitedb ?? if is there remove it, remove application and install from cydia but onlt from ‘ispaziorepository.com’; the correct version is 2.1. are you sure the your sim is full ?? go into option and set FAST READ to OFF and read again the sim.. but if SIManager say the your sim has 250 contacts this mean that the max capacity of the sim is 250 but maybe some entry are empty

please please find a way to make it work on i4, at first nothing worked on i4 from cydia but little by little people found a way to bypass all obsticals maybe bb can help he was the first to be able to get his apps work right on i4 sometimes rewriting the whole app all over again but with a different approach it’s a great app so again please try for all the millions of iPhone 4 & ipads too !
any way great app that every other phone got it build in beside Apple who want to control everything and everybody so it’s up to u to try to take that control back, that’s the point of jailbracking right?

Hi,
I just downloaded SIManager 2.0, used ‘Read from SIM’, then ‘Empty SIM’ then ‘Read from SIM’ again, then copy iPhone to SIM’, then ‘Write to SIM’.
The first 130 contacts are fine, but once it gets up to the last 60 contacts (which I assume are the new ones on my phone) I get errors for every one of them..
Help please? : )

I get the error when it gets to the last 60 contacts of the 190 on my phone.
I think the first 130 contacts were already on my sim card..

Ciao, ho la sim con 0 contatti cancellati in anticipo tramite un altro telefono, ora ho trasferito i contatti del mio IPhone 3gs all’ applicazione, poi provo a scrivere i contatti per importarli sulla sim ma mi da errore gia dal primo numero.
Come posso fare per risolvere? Mi serve la settimana prossima perchè devo dare l’ iPhone al corriere per la sostituzione e dovró utilizzare un Nokia per un pó di giorni ma senza i contatti è un grande problema.

if you mean all sim contact togheter so use the native function from settings/mail; if you mean individually, only want you want, select a contacts from SIManager list and from menu choice import

I forgot to read Sim before doing the “empty sim”. Now sim capacity only shows 4.
I removed the app then reinstalled it but still shows 4. What can I do to reset this (to star over)

empty sim has nothing to do with real sim; as explained in the how to empty sim empty the ‘local image’ of sim, if you dont write after ‘empty’ nothing happen to the sim
go into option and set fast read off and read again; if only 4 contacts are show, almost sure only 4 contacts are on the sim.
if you actovate the log before read sim can see all modem answer and can check all single entries in the sim

Hey i’m having a problem
I read my contacts from sim, then pressed empty sim and all contacts turned red, then I pressed write to sim and this “error writing to sim” message comes out. And I can only delete my contacts one at a time by pressing the write to sim button. It will delete 0, then 1, then 2 every additional time I press the button. Help me pls!

Excellent work thanks a lot Giovanni ! this is the best app development that was missing to iPhone 4.
I wish i would have installed simanager 2 days before cause i lost all my contacts after a bug with another app…
I have 2 questions:
1- do you know if there is a way to recover lost addressbook data with ssh like in kernel computers?
2)Version 2.3 works well on my os 4.0. I was wondering if i upgrade to version os 4.2 will it work as well ?

1) if you mean the contacts database of phone : generally when go lost is because the db was lost and is recreated empty by phone application. You can check into /private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook and if its not empty can try to copy on desktop and use software like sqlite database browser to try to repair
2) some users confirm that it work with 4.2.1 too

Se l’errore lo da senza fare nulla forse e’ corrotto il db; prova a cancellare il file /var/root/documents/SIManager.sqlitedb e rieseguire l’applicazione,
Se te lo da ancora : ricancella il file, elimina l’app e reinstalla da cydia

Il File SIManager.sqlitedb non ce l’ho in var/root/ documents/. L’unico file con quel nome ho nella cartella SIManager.app non mi permette di eliminarlo. Il / root/var/documents/ non ho.

Grazie, ora se funziona. Dopo aver letto i contatti della SIM e copiare su sim mi ha dato nuovamente l’errore, ma riavviare il database del programma e ora funziona. Ciò che la cartella documents è strano perché ho la jail con greenpoison. La ringrazio molto per l’aiuto.

Giusto per capire la logica di funzionamento: il mio obiettivo è aggiornare la SIM con tutti i contatti nuovi che ho aggiunto nel tempo dopo aver copiato su iphone i vecchi contatti che già avevo sulla SIM (operazione fatta subito dopo l’attivazione dell’iphone). Come faccio?
Come prima cosa, come suggerisci, ho letto la SIM, ma così facendo vedo solo il contenuto che già avevo memorizzato nella SIM, come faccio ad aggiungervi i nuovi contatti memorizzati solo su iphone? Manco mi ricordo quali sono…

dopo aver letto la sim, tocchi il pulsante tool e poi selezioni copia iPhone in SIM; l’applicazioni ragione cosi’ : scorre tutti i contatti, per ogni contatto controlla se il nr di telefono e’ gia presente nella sim e se non c’e’ lo aggiunge. Questo fino a raggiungimento campienza massima, dopo di che di dice SIM piena. Se non ci sono problemi (ho avuto 2 segnalazioni di utenti a cui la funzione crashava per qualche dato strano nei loro contatti ma non ho ancora capito dove sta il problema) al termine vedrai nella lista un tot di righe verdi che corrispondono ai nuovi contatti.
Ricorda che questa lista non e’ la vera e propria sim ma l’immagine che ne viene creata su un db locale quando fai read sim: per apportare le modifiche alla sim fisisa devi usare write sim (funziona cosi’ in quanto l’accesso alla sim e’ piuttosto lento ed in questo modo risulta + comodo fare tutte le variazioni e poi scriverle tutte in botto)

ho fatto come mi hai detto ma ho avuto dei problemi: il “copia iphone in SIM” ha funzionato perfettamente e ho visto i nuovi contatti inseriti in verde.
La scrittura però andava in errore sui nuovi numeri: ho scoperto però che andando in modifica sul numero che andava in errore (me lo segnalava) e dando semplicemente OK (quindi risalvandolo così come era) la successiva scrittura su SIM superava quel punto e si impiantava sul numero successivo. Stessa procedura su tutti i numeri e finalmente ha terminato la scrittura senza apparenti problemi.
Rileggendo però la SIM arriva fino alla posizione 250 (in realtà dovrei avere 205 contatti) e mi da l’errore “Errore nel Database – dati corrotti, chiudi l’applicazione e riprova”. Chiudo, riprovo ma ho lo stesso risultato. Temo di essermi fumato il contenuto della SIM…

veloce aggiornamento: dopo aver reboottato il telefono ora l’app legge la SIM senza problemi, non appare corrotta e i nuovi conatti su cui si inchiodava in scrittura sono stati scritti regolarmente.
Resta il problema che, a un nuovo tentativo di scrittura fatto dopo l’inserimento su iphone di un nuovo contatto, mi va nuovamente in errore proprio sulla scrittura del nuovo numero.
La SIM è una TIM, credo che l’app abbia ancora qualche bug…

Sembrerebbe funzionare bene, ma non ho ancora copiato i numeri da iphone a sim perchè molti numeri sulla sim non mi interessano + e vorrei eliminarli prima.
Mi consigli di cancellare tutto sulla sim e poi copiare da iphone? Oppure cancello 1 ad 1 quelli che non voglio + sulla sim? E poi copio il resto..

bhe se sei sicuro che i numero che hai sulla sim li hai anche su iphone fai senzaltro prima a fare empty sim, write e poi copy iphone in sim e write
se invece non ne sei sicuro e i numeri da cancellare sono pochi procedi cosi..

ciao, fatto tutto come mi hai detto: è funzionato alla perfezione. Per prova ho ricaricato i dati della sim (dopo che l’ho formattata e riscritta) e sono gli stessi dell’iphone!
Posso tranquillamente affermare che sull’iphone 4 4.2.1 funziona perfettamente.
Unica pecca ho dovuto fargli leggere 2 volte la sim perché la prima volta mi è andato in crash il programma e si è chiuso

you can use iFile from iphone or winscp from windows if you have ssh on your iphone. /var/mobile the is for sure, you need to create only Documents; if you have problem to do it i can send a 2.5 version that im testing where i have add the creation of folder on that iphone without it

I have Iphone 3gs V4.1 jailbroken. I installed SIManager 2.8. What I want is:
1. Copy all my Iphone contacts to sim and then copy them to my HTC
phone . HTC has sim manager that will copy from my sim. My sim will
take only 250 contacts and I have over 1000 contacts. Can you tell me
step by step how to do it.
2. Is there a manual to show what each color mean and functionality of
each tab items like empty sim, copy iphone to sim etc. Right now u
have to depend on forums and some youtube videos which
